Collection: Accent Chairs

Accent chairs are a great way to add colour and extra seating to a living room, or for that matter any space in the home.  They come with a great range of colours and fabrics available which means that you can easily find one to suit to suit any setting no matter what your taste or budget is.

Within the range here at Price Crash Furniture we also have a diverse selection of sizes which helps with your home design options, from more compact accent chairs to one that are more generously proportioned and look more like an armchair.

Choosing the right accent chair

There are a number of things to consider when choosing an accent chair for your living room

Understand the intended use. Are you going to use the chair on a daily basis?  Is it just going to be for purely decorative purposes? Or do you need it to act as occasional extra seating, such as for when you have guests over to visit or stay?

Once you have this point clear in your head you will have a better understanding of what style of occasional chair it is you need

Consider the height of the seat. To avoid it looking completely out of place, if the accent chair is going to be placed near to existing sofas or armchairs then you want to make sure the seat base is a similar height.  If there is too much of a difference in height you run the risk of it looking completely out of place and spoiling the balance of the room.

Understand the available space.  This is something we highlight with every item of furniture, it is important to understand how much you have where you are going to put.  If you are going to be walking around it, or next to it, you need to allow at least 75cm clearance – in an ideal world you want to allow 90cm room although I appreciate this is not possible for everyone.

Consider the colour of your main sofa. For the accent chair to provide an accent in the room as it’s name suggests you need to be mindful of both the colour and texture of the main sofa and armchairs in the room.  For example if the sofa is of a smooth or leather style finish then you consider a velvet or boucle finish for the fabric on your new chair.  If the sofa has a light colour to it such as a beige or cream, which are very popular at the moment, to add some colour to the room you should consider a much richer colour that provides a contrast.  This way you will help bring the room to life and avoid it potentially looking a bit flat and dull
