When it comes to setting up your turntable, you need to consider more than just placing it and using it.  Vinyl turntables are actually sensitive pieces of equipment that do not do well with vibrations.  As such you should consider the build of your stand and whether it will help or hinder when it comes to the quality of audio playback

Key points to consider;

• Vibration Damping: You should look for stands with either spiked feet for carpets, or if you are placing on a hard floor you want to be going for rubber feet. The top shelf, where you will place your turntable should be as still as possible.
• Material Matters:
• Wood (MDF/Solid Wood):  If you go for a wood finish, it naturally gives off a warm look, as well as acting to dampen vibrations.
• Metal & Glass: These will give you sleek and modern looks, but glass can sometimes resonate unless it's tempered and you want to make sure if comes with rubber gaskets for the shelves.
• Weight & Stability: Heavy is good. Although it can be a pain to build and set up, a heavy stand is good in the long term as the weight of it resists moving and minimises the impact of external vibrations for you.
• Ventilation: Amplifiers and receivers get hot when used, especially if for prolonged periods of time. Top tip – you want to ensure there is enough open air space above and around your components to help you make sure that they don't overheat.
• Cable Management: Arguably not as important as other factors, but still worthy of consideration, you should look if you can for either built-in channels or clips to hide power cords and sound cables – although this may sound minor on the face of it, it will significantly improve the looks of your set up
