Choosing Bedroom Furniture

Here at Price Crash Furniture we have thousands of items of bedroom furniture to choose from.  So how do you make sure that you chose the right item for your bedroom to suit your needs?  And, what is it important to consider?

Size

The most important thing to understand is the size you have got to work with.  To make sure it all flows nicely and doesn’t feel cramped you need to avoid filling every last square centimetre with furniture in an attempt to cram in as much as you can.

The first thing you need to consider is making sure you leave enough space to actually move around the bedroom freely and easily, there is nothing worse than bumping into stuff in the night, trust me it hurts as I’ve been there and done that…  You should target a minimum of ideally 60cm but preferably 90cm of free space around both the foot end and sides of the bed, this will mean you can move around easily without it feeling too cramped

Understand what storage you need

Once you have worked out what space you have available to use, the next most important thing to do is understand how much storage space you need.  If you understand tis you can then use it to help chose your new bedroom furniture better.  If you need a lot of storage and are tight on space you can plan accordingly and consider options that give you extra bedroom storage without taking up more space, such as picking a bed that either has underbed drawers built in or lifts up to give access to additional storage. 

Going taller also helps

Whilst people will often bemoan a lack of floor space to work with, they rarely complain about a lack of ceiling space, and going taller with your choices of bedroom furniture is a cost effective way of getting extra storage space.

A standard wardrobe is often around 180cm tall, however there are much bigger choices that will get you extra storage.  If you opt for a wardrobe that is over 2 metres tall it will get you a full extra shelf of storage space to use – don’t be put off by the height, if that shelf is at the top it makes it ideal for storing out the way items you don’t need to access on a daily basis such as spare bedding, and clothes for a different season.

Chest of drawers units are a similar way of getting extra space by going taller. Over the years we have seem that drawers units that are 4 drawers high are the most common choice, but if you need extra space there are plenty to chose from that go 5 drawers high or more.  If you go for a tallboy chest of drawers then you can even go up to 7 drawers high to help maximise storage without impacting too much on the space in your bedroom.
